Jays Care Foundation Helps Build Ashley Neufeld “Field of Dreams”
The Ashley Neufeld Softball Complex Committee is excited to announce they have been awarded a Field of Dreams grant in the amount of $123,733. This grant is sponsored by Jays Care Foundation, the charitable arm of the Toronto Blue Jays, which helps kids get involved in the game, builds safe spaces in which they can play and supports organizations dedicated to improving the lives of all Canadian kids.
In 2014, Jays Care Foundation invested $3.2 million in programs and projects and has invested in the construction and/or refurbishment of 54 safe play spaces for children and youth, including 27 baseball diamonds, all across Canada.
The Ashley Neufeld Softball Complex Committee has been working for several years to build a new facility to help meet the demand for more softball fields in Brandon. When completed, the complex will include four adult diamonds and four youth diamonds, with two adult and the four youth diamonds being ready for play next year. The Field of Dreams funding will play a significant role in completing the next two adult diamonds. “It is fantastic to get such huge support for the completion of all the diamonds which we always saw as the key to making this facility viable” said Brett Turner, Project Chair.
Having all four diamonds ready for play will allow Brandon to host many major events at the provincial and national levels. “We are excited to have the infrastructure to support softball in our community and to host major tournaments. These events generate additional funds that will be re-invested into the complex. This generous donation from Jays Care Foundation has certainly helped us realize our own Field of Dreams!” says Nancy McPherson, Fundraising Chair.
Once again many thanks to Scott, Dwayne and the rest of the BIRT Cup Committee and to all the participants and sponsors for supporting our project!

Aviva Insurance created the Aviva Community Fund Competition to make a difference by supporting what matters most to Canadians, helping passionate people like you make positive change in their community. Organizations from across Canada partner with a supporting insurance brokerage, submit their ideas and concepts, and through a Canada wide voting process winners are established.
This was the Case for the Ashley Neufeld Softball Complex. On Wednesday June 17, 2015 the Grand Prize of $90,000 was presented by Aviva Insurance to the organizing committee at the site of the Ashley Neufeld Softball Complex. Guild Insurance Brokers was the supporting broker on the Project and were pleased to be part of the process as well as see some of the funding come to the city.
